Our past, present and future

I think that a few of us are seeing through the current oligarchy and its democratic posturings. How do we react and try to make a better world? It has now been tried so many times before and each time the enlightened, sacrificial leaders of the change end up giving in to their natural human state: greed for power. Each revolution merely reinstates a new oppression. This is not to say that we should not try, it merely recognizes that humans, at least those who seek power, are such base creatures. Those that allow the power-seekers to have power so they can enrich themselves (gravy train) or because they lack the courage and initiative to push for change themselves are sad creatures. They have ever been thus. So how can we escape this catch-22 of our own making. All the old political models seem incapable of providing ways past human greed toward some new social arrangement. I think it is all a matter of our short life spans and short attention spans. We can only commit to substantive change unless we are under immediate threat or unless the powers that rule us fear for their own continued power. It is only then we mobilize and, having mobilized against the momentary evil, pat ourselves on the back with remembrance day ceremonies etc.. Our future is to go the way other dominant species went, into extinction. The only difference is that we have the capacity to understand our end.
