Gramsci for Christmas

In today’s world of wars on terrorism and drugs, cops killing subalterns and being killed in revenge, continuing heteronormativity and patriarchy (dentists) and other fears engendered and expanded upon by corporations and their political lackies, I thought that these words by Gramsci are apropos:

“Regardless of the name they assume, restorations of political regimes, especially those of the present epoch, are repressive.  The psychology behind such an intellectual  expression is based on panic, of the cosmic fear of a universally repressive force. In its acute phase, the memory of the panic lasts a long time and governs people’s wills and feelings. Freedom and creative spontaneity disappear.”
