Attacks on unions must stop

So Alberta is making it illegal for public employees to even “talk” about striking. Saskachewan has draconian anti-union laws. The Federal Conservatives are beginning their pre-election long march against the unions with the latest omnibus bill. The corporations  and their lapdog media have managed to convince a sizable amount of doughheads that unions are the problem and not the corporations who are underpaying and exploiting workers while making obscene profits that are not reinvested into creating real jobs as opposed to McJobs.  Unions, not corporations, built the middle classes by ensuring that whatever decent wages are out there actually came into existence and that human beings be treated as humans not cogs in capitalist production (only partly successful here). I get so pissed at all these fools who have bought phoney meritocracy and Randian entreprenurial nonsense who, because they got their tiny piece of the shrinking pie, say that unions are a drag on competitiveness. Who go on about some mythical “free” market that will take care of us all if only we let it. We need unions today as much as our parents and grand parents did. But we are letting the one thing that keeps the wolves from our doors to be maligned and attacked by the very people we elected.
