Harper, Afghanistan, International Commitments and Ignoring the home Front

Harper is about to throw more cash at the Afghanistan money pit (Canada to Offer Afghans Cash…). Continuing to ignore history in that no one has subdued any Afghan rebellion since before the Soviets, Harper compounds this blindspot by continuing to fund something called "international commitments". But what of commitments to the Canadians who are job-loss victims of an austerity program necessitated in part by huge sums of wasted money supplying the war machine in Afghanistan? Throwing another, some estimate 115 million, at "training" in Afghanistan is counter-productive and a waste of time. Why not help Canadians with those monies?  Cut a few less jobs and offer more meaningful re-training" to those whose jobs are cut.
